Scientists and NASA Satellite Imagery proves Ram-Setu Exists and is Man-made
With recent release of Akshay Kumar’s new movie promo- Ram-Setu, talks of its existence and mystery are in rounds again. Ram Setu, as per Indian mythology, was a bridge built by an army of monkeys on the Indian ocean who were assisting Lord Rama in his quest to rescue Sita (his wife) from King Ravana in Lanka. Stretching 30 miles the Ram-Setu (also known as Adam’s Bridge) connects Dhanushkodi in India with Mannar Island in Sri Lanka.
But lack of enough evidences over the years could not validate its presence and in 2007 Congress party’s Kapil Sibal (the then union minister of state) argued that there is no scientific proof of Ram Setu being a man-made bridge.
But in 2018, a fresh life was blown into it after Discovery Communications-owned ‘Science Channel’ aired an episode that provided scientific evidence to a man-made bridge between India and Sri Lanka. The episode was aired on the Science Channel in the show – What on Earth in an episode called Ancient Land Bridge.
The science channel used NASA’s satellite imagery and other evidences to prove the existence of Ram Setu. The team of investigation displayed how the rocks connecting India and Sri Lanka are placed on a sandbar (also known as a shoal) and the investigators believe that the sandbar is natural however the stones placed on top of that sandbar, are not natural.
To establish the validity of the findings, the researchers used latest techniques to date the sand and the stones. Chelsea Rose, an archaeologist featuring in the promo, said, “the rocks on top of the sand actually predate the sand”. Scientific analysis reveals, claimed the promo, that the rocks are about 7,000 years old but the sand beneath it is only 4,000 years old.
The show featuring renowned Geologist Dr Alan Lester, mentioned that “there are Hindu legends that Lord Rama placed a bridge here connecting India to Sri Lanka”. He also added said, “there are stones that have been brought from afar and set on top of sand bar island chain” The show dates the creation of Ram Setu some 5,000 years ago and also called it a superhuman achievement.
Subramanian Swamy, a BJP leader said, “The U.S. scientists have come forward to say what we already knew…I have said this in the Supreme Court itself that three retired directed generals from Geological Survey of India gave a report which was placed in the apex court to show that this is man-made”.
Swamy further added that the Director Generals of Geological Survey of India after retirement formed a committee where it was concluded that Ram Setu is a man-made structure because corals cannot be found in the middle of the ocean.
Adding to all that the upcoming movie on Ram-Setu will also be on must watch list given Akshay’s popularity in India and the religious gravity the holy bridge upholds.
