SpaceX breaks ISRO’s record by launching 143 satellites in one go; Highlights

Elon Musk’s SpaceX creates new record by launching 143 satellites in one go in a mission called ‘Transporter-1’. Breaking ISRO’s record of launching 104 satellites in February 2017, the event took place at Cape Canaveral in Florida on 24th January,2021 at 8.31pm IST.

The carrier vehicle, Falcon-9 deployed 133 commercial and government CubeSats, microsats and 10 Starlink satellites.

A spacecraft by NASA was also onboard in this record smashing mission. With these satellites, SpaceX aims at providing broadband internet coverage across the globe by 2021.

Falcon 9’s first stage booster previously supported launch of Crew Dragon’s second demonstration mission, the ANASIS-II mission, a Starlink mission, and launch of Dragon’s 21st cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
