Make 2021 Happier with these 10 Simple New Year Resolutions

As the ominous year 2020 comes to an end, we can’t wait to bid goodbye to it once and for all. From the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic which sent everyone on this planet into tizzy to the massive Australian bush fire which killed over a billion animals, the world has already seen much than it can take for a long time to come.

But even after being through so much, let’s not lose hope and look forward for a better and brighter 2021 since every cloud has a silver lining. So why don’t you end this year on a positive note and start the new year afresh with some amazing resolutions?

Here are some simple resolutions for 2021 which you might ponder to take on

1. Making your immunity strong:

With the onset of novel Corona Virus pandemic, the first thing which we all have learnt is to keep ourselves germ free and disease free. And for that we always need to maintain basic hygiene and eat nutritious foods, drink lots of water and exercise. So if you are among the ones who get sick often, you may want to consider this.

2. Washing hands and use sanitiser frequently:

As already discussed above, to keep ourselves at bay from diseases we also need to be safe from harmful germs which may cause trouble to us anytime. So we should practise the habit of handwashing or using sanitiser after coming home from outside, before eating, using the toilet, touching things in public or every time we think our hands might be dirty.

3. Learning a new skill:

Be it playing an instrument, learning new moves, baking, painting, coding or joining a new online course, start engaging yourself into a new hobby apart from the mundane job that you are doing. The lockdown imposed this year also taught us one thing that we might be on house arrest anytime and we need to know interesting ways to kill the time.

4. Start a side hustle:

And if you get passionate about your new hobby you can also turn it into your profession any time! We have seen how millions of people lost their jobs and businesses as economy crashed in the worldwide lockdown. So, to be on the safer side always try to have more than one way of income and you don’t have to worry about cash inflow during the hard times. You may think about investing in debts, equities, start a blog, create a YouTube channel to showcase your creativity, do tuitions or anything which you are interested in that may add a few bucks each month other than your regular income.

5. Travel and explore new destination keeping safety in top mind:

Being house arrested for long months was not a pleasing option for many during Covid pandemic. As the pandemic reduces and vaccination is obtained, waste no time to indulge in exploring new destination and savour delicious cuisine to your heart. But we should also keep in mind not to go overboard and always keep wearing masks and try to eat healthy.

6. Keeping in touch with your closed ones:

As we know, life is unpredictable, we should always try to be in touch with our old school friends, college friends, colleagues and parents if we are staying far from them. Technology has advanced tremendously, and we get to hear or see someone just at the touch of a button. So before it’s too late, catch up with your loved ones so that you do not have to regret later for not have given them enough time.

7. Helping the lesser privileged ones:

This is a no brainer. What goes around, comes around. If you help someone today, you will surely receive help some other day. We should come out of our bubble and try to see and empathize with the ones who are not as privileged as us. Rather than spending on branded shoes and clothes everytime, try donating some money or food to a needy one and the happiness that will sparkle in their eyes will give you more satisfaction than any materialistic things.

8. Be compassionate:

The one and only thing that the world needs right now is compassion. Due to fierce competition, capitalism and materialism, violence and hatred is on rise and humans are becoming more and more coldhearted with each passing day. So we should try to be thoughtful about others putting ourselves in their shoes and judge each other others less. We should always be conscious of our words and actions such that they don’t hurt anyone.

9. Thinking of a greener planet:

We only have one place to live, i.e, our mother earth and we should always think about conserving it. But due to human greed, deforestation and pollution is on rise and the climate is changing from bad to worse. Hence, we should adopt more sustainable ways of living for a cleaner planet. Think of planting trees, use lesser fossil fuels and walk or cycle to commute to nearby places. Also use of plastic should be avoided as much as possible and always try to recycle them.

10. Always keep a smiling face:

There is not guarantee that the year 2021 will be a bed of roses. 2020 has left many in despair and its scars will be visible for years to come. But wearing a smiling face regardless of any situation we are in, can certainly make our and others life slightly easier, hopeful and positive.
